QUALIFICATIONS: 
Bachelor in  Premedicine, University of Panama, 1960.  Doctor in Medicine, University of Panama, 1964; Master of  Science and Hygiene (Microbiology), Tulane University, New Orleans, LA; ECFMG Certificate No. 74952, 1960; numerous courses and seminars for updating knowledge locally and internationally over the years.

ACADEMIC, ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 
Dr Martin is curently President of the
 Board of Directors, Universidad Popular de Desarrollo Sostenible de Las Americas;  President/Rectora, Instituto Superior Internacional de Intercambio Tecnologico y Capacitacion.  She is the first woman  and African Descendant to be elected as Dean of the Faculty of Medicne, University of Panama. For many years she served in the follwing capaacities: Full Professor, Medical Microbiology and   Chairperson of the Department of Microbiology, University of Panama;  University representative on Interinstitutional Commission (Ministry of Health) for Teaching-Research-Service;  President, Interinstitutional Commission on Certification in Medicine; and Consultant in Bacteriology, Social Security Hospital, Panama. 

Research interests:
 
Aflatoxins in food; sick  building syndrome/microbiological indoor air quality; epidemiology of cryptococcosis, histoplasmosis and paracoccidioidomycosis in Panama.  Over 85 scientific publications.  Private practice, San Fernando Clinic, Panama.  Recipient of national and international awards.
 NGO/COMMUNITY  EXPERIENCE:  Directed and participated in health fairs for the community; radio and TV programs/panels on health; newspaper publications on health;  gave lectures in meetings for youth, for women;  member of Institute for Women.
