Dr. Waldaba H. Stewart is a former New York State Senator who, during his tenure, was instrumental in spearheading the community's efforts formation of Caribbean Action Lobby, Caribbean Research Center, Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He began his professional career as a public school teacher in the former Panama canal Zone, and subsequently went on to teach in the Ocean Hill Brownsville district of the New York City Public School system. He has a long history of community leadership and economic development activity in New York, Panama, Latin America and the developing world. He has also served as political organizer, campaign manager and consultant in several successful election campaigns in New York City.
